summit awards

Our mission is to promote the strategies that build healthy communities for pets and people and to recognize those who achieve success.

The Summit Awards are focused on recognizing those within communities and within the companion animal value chain who are achieving success. The Summit Awards are presented annually by the Summit Alumni using an academy style system of nominations and election by secret ballot for each category.

NOMINEES MAY INCLUDE: Individuals, agencies, organizations, and corporations from all four sectors of the companion animal industry. This includes:

animal control/enforcement: those who administer licensing programs and by-law enforcement either privately or within a municipality

animal health/wellness: veterinary clinics, emergency centres, behaviour, socialization and chiropractic

animal welfare: humane societies, SPCAs and rescue organizations

animal services: retailers, groomers, kennels, breeders, trainers, product manufacturers and all other service providers

After the 2010 Summit our awards categories were reviewed by the awards committee and numerous changes to both the number of awards and the criterion were made. We believe that these changes will allow the industry better representation as a whole and therefore make it easier for all sectors to have awards nominations in many areas. This will ultimately allow us to paint a better picture of excellence throughout the entire companion animal industry.
